ASSESSMENT OF OCCUPIER’S SATISFACTION ON QUALITY PERFORMANCE OF PUBLIC RESIDENTIAL ESTATES IN LAGOS METROPOLIS

Abstract


This study is a post occupancy assessment of occupiers’ satisfaction in selected estates within the Lagos Metropolis. This paper undertakes an assessment of users’ satisfaction on the quality performance of public residential estates with a view to determining the occupiers’ satisfaction using quality performance criteria under the elements of building performance; and also to rank the degree of importance of quality performance criteria on occupier’s satisfaction. The paper made use of cross-section survey of 226 households, down from three different socio-economic housing estates in the study area. The results showed that the occupiers were not satisfied wit the criteria under functional element. They were least satisfied with the criteria under behavioral and economic elements. The results show and confirm that the quality of certain physical characteristics in the housing environment is imperative thereby influencing the level of occupiers housing satisfaction. It was recommended that requisite amenities and facilities are to be made available by Housing Providers to increase the level of occupiers satisfaction.
