AN APPRECIATION OF THE STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS OF THE MAIN LIBRARY OF NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY, AWKA
Abstract
Architecture, overtime has evolved from being a mere habitat, providing shelter from elements of weather and barriers to harmful animals, to a more interesting and sensational objects, affecting the well being and perception of the users: and the structural elements of a building are one of the most significant elements that helps to achieve such. This paper studies how structures can be used to enrich architectural designs. It also seeks to emphasize the necessity and indispensability of structural members, both also load bearing members and thoroughly integrated members, involved in the making of architecture and playing significant roles that engage the sense, hearts and minds of building users. This was achieved by using a case study of the University Library of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
