While it presents an attractive alternative, Green economy transition requires the formation and a transfer of a wide range of technical, organizational and institutional capacities. It also requires the systematic cultivation of a green innovation ecosystem, the kind that Africa desperately needs to achieve fair, equitable and Sustainable economic growth and social development. Nonetheless, there is a glaring absence of "green" skills and a limited number of interventions that principally seek to develop and deploy such skills across Africa. The capacity and technology gap assessment sought to identify capacity and technology assets and gaps in Nigeria Institute of Leather and Science Technology Zaria, Kaduna State in order to understand and explore possibilities for supporting the transition to a green economy in Nigeria. The result showed that there is a growing demand for knowledge and skills in the context of the green economy in Nigeria.
